Now available in a revised paperback edition, this classic bestseller can change the way the game of tennis is played. The new edition of this remarkable work--Billie Jean King called the original her tennis bible--refines Gallwey's theories on concentration, gamesmanship, breaking bad habits, learning to trust yourself on the court, and awareness. "No matter what a person's complaint when he has a lesson with me, I have found the most beneficial first step," he stressed, "is to encourage him to see and feel what he is doing--that is, to increase his awareness of what actually is."

A Champion's Mind: Lessons from a Life in Tennis
A Champion's Mind: Lessons from a Life in Tennis
Author : Pete Sampras, Peter Bodo
Price : $10.20
Features Published on: 2009-05-26. Released on: 2009-05-26. Original language: English. 320 pages.
Product Description
Pete Sampras is arguably the greatest tennis player ever, a man whose hard-nosed work ethic led to an unprecedented number one world ranking for 286 weeks, and whose prodigious talent made possible a record-setting fourteen Grand Slam titles. While his more vocal rivals sometimes grabbed the headlines, Pete always preferred to let his racket do the talking. In A Champion’s Mind, the tennis great who so often exhibited visible discomfort with letting people “inside his head” finally opens up. An athletic prodigy, Pete resolved from his earliest playing days never to let anything get in the way of his love for the game. But while this single-minded determination led to tennis domination, success didn’t come without a price. The constant pressure of competing on the world’s biggest stage—in the unblinking eye of a media machine hungry for more than mere athletic greatness—took its toll. Here for the first time Pete speaks freely about what it was like to possess what he calls “the Gift.” He writes about the personal trials he faced—including the death of a longtime coach and confidant—and the struggles he gutted his way through while being seemingly on top of the world. Among the book’s most riveting scenes are an early devastating loss to Stefan Edberg that led Pete to make a monastic commitment to delivering on his natural talent; a grueling, four-hour-plus match against Alex Corretja during which Pete became seriously ill; fierce on-court battles with rival and friend Andre Agassi; and the triumphant last match of Pete’s career at the finals of the 2002 U.S. Open. In A Champion’s Mind, one of the most revered, successful, and intensely private players in the history of tennis offers an intimate look at the life of an elite athlete.

Wimbledon - The 2008 Finals: Nadal vs. Federer / Widescreen
Directed By : Aeltc
Price : $19.99
Features Brand: NADAL,RAFAEL. Released on: 2008-08-19. Aspect ratio: 1.78:1. Number of discs: 2. Formats: Color, Dolby, DVD, NTSC, Widescreen. Original language: English. Running time: 305 minutes.
Product Description
On July 6 2008, one dream ended, and a new one began on the Centre Court in Wimbledon. In the latest, magnificent chapter of their storied rivalry, Rafael Nadal dethroned five-time champion Roger Federer by winning the longest-ever Wimbledon men's final. The consistently heart stopping 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-7 (8-10), 9-7 classic began at 2.35 pm and, thanks to a couple of breaks for rain it ended at 9.15 pm with the 22-year-old from Mallorca dropping to the ground with his arms outstretched in celebration. With the win, Nadal matched Bjorn Borg's fantastic feat of winning the Grand Slams at the French Open and Wimbledon back-to-back and also prevented Federer from surpassing the five titles in a row Borg collected between 1976 and 1980. Conditions for the latest duel between tennis's two finest players could not have been more demanding. The rain, which delayed the start for 27 minutes, eventually cleared but the chill, gusting wind which accompanied it persisted throughout the match, blowing winning shots off course and making life even more difficult for the two competitors. That they coped so well spoke volumes for their skill and adaptability. The match is being proclaimed as the greatest Grand Slam finals of all time. The Spaniard, who had squandered two match points in a nerve-shredding fourth set tie-break, added a first All England Club title to his four French Opens, shattering Federer's dreams of an historic sixth successive Wimbledon trophy. 'It's impossible to explain what I felt when I won. I'm just very happy to win this title. I never thought I could win but to do so is a dream'; said Nadal who had lost the last two finals to Federer. It was late, very late, but not too late to crown a new champion.

Wimbledon Classic Match: Federer vs Sampras
Wimbledon Classic Match: Federer vs Sampras
Directed By : N/A
Price : $14.99
Features Brand: N/A. Released on: 2006-10-31. Aspect ratio: 1.33:1. Number of discs: 1. Formats: Color, Dolby, DVD, NTSC. Original language: English. Running time: 233 minutes.
Product Description
In many ways Federer is much like the man he succeeded at the All England Club in 2001. Federer showed his former idol the door with a sensational performance. The fourth-round thriller ended Sampras' remarkable reign - at least for the moment. Sampras held a set point in the opening tiebreaker, but Federer erased it with a service winner. Sampras then lost the set four points later when he dumped an easy backhand into the net, and the battle was on. Wearing a bandana and ponytail, Federer looks nothing like Sampras but plays with the same stylish ease and seems comfortable at the net. Much of the time the modest and unassuming Swiss star had the better serve, and he confidently closed out the third set with three consecutive service winners and an ace that kicked up chalk. Sampras played his best tennis in the final two sets, smashing serves at up to 136 mph and looking like the champion of old at the net. Serving in the final game, he misplayed two volleys and fell behind 15-40. Federer then played a superb return winner - something he had done repeatedly over the previous 3 1/2 hours - and fell to his knees with glee before keeling over onto the turf. The usually composed player could no longer hide his emotions and broke down with tears of joy.

Wilson Ball Hopper Pickup 75
Wilson Ball Hopper Pickup 75
From : Wilson
Price : $19.86
Features 75 Ball Capacity. Unique upright locking system. No spill lid. Heavy duty plated steel. Easy break down for storage. Model: WRZ3235. Dimensions: .0" h x .0" w x .0" l, .0 pounds.
Product Description
If you play a lot of tennis and practice a lot, seriously consider getting a ball hopper like this. Why do you need one? Basically because it's a more efficient way to pick balls up off the ground and will save your back. How does it do this?
Well, with the handles in the "up" position, the hopper is pretty close to the ground when you carry it, so all you have to do is set the thing down over a tennis ball. Since its got this neat little one-way trapdoor on its base, that lets balls in the cage but not out- whallah- you just picked up a ball without ever bending over!
As you can tell, hoppers are great inventions, as I can't imagine trying to bend over and pick up 20 or 30 (or more) balls off the ground without one. Also, when the hopper is full of balls, you can fold the handles down into legs and use it as a stand to hold your balls while you practive serves and such. Sturdy and easy to put together (4 screws), its definitely a must if you're into tennis. Other items I can recommend for tennis players include Treat Your Own Tennis Elbow.

Available in Black/White. Size: One Size Fits All. Color: Black/White. Model: ABI00. Released on: 2009-08-27.
Product Description
I've looked all over for some good treatments for tennis elbow and came across the book Treat Your Own Tennis Elbow. In it, the book recommends using one of these forearm bands, also known as counterforce braces. Apparently they don't know exactly how these things help decrease tennis elbow pain, but they work. The current theory is that tennis elbow is a problem with the tendon of one of your forearm muscles. Putting this brace near the tendon of the problem muscle takes pressure off the tendon, giving it a chance to heal. Some of the studies quoted in the book also show these braces can increase your arm strength as well as decrease pain- so there's a lot of benefit to be gained by using one. Now the first problem you might imagine you'd have is one of comfort. These things have to be on snug to take pressure off the forearm tendon or they're useless. Of course more pressure usually means LESS comfort. That's where this little baby comes in- its designed to get around the issues of cutting off your circulation. Now it is made of two pieces of plastic, so its a little more rigid than the soft braces, but its padded with foam and the plastic does give- so it ends up being both firm and comfortable. The way I see it, forearm bands can't help you if you don't wear them. So if you've tried other bands, give this one a shot- it's a little different than the rest and well worth a try (but keep up the eccentric exercises too).
